Riffraff Diesel Cam Position Sensor CPS 1994-2003 7.3L
The Cam Position Sensor (CPS) is one of the most critical sensors on your 7.3L Powerstroke. It provides the PCM with engine crank position and speed information, allowing the injectors to fire at precisely the right time. When the signal becomes weak or erratic, it can lead to poor drivability, intermittent stalling, hard starting, or even a no-start condition.
The original International “Black CPS” earned a loyal following among 7.3L owners for its excellent drivability and throttle response. When it was discontinued, many aftermarket replacements failed to deliver the same consistent performance.
Rather than simply reproducing an outdated design, we partnered with an OEM sensor manufacturer to develop an all-new CPS using modern Hall Effect technology, improved electronics, and tighter manufacturing controls. The result is a sensor engineered to provide exceptional signal stability, outstanding reliability, and the smooth performance 7.3L owners expect.
Every sensor is manufactured in an IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 certified facility, individually tested before packaging, and validated on an actual 7.3L camshaft gear to ensure consistent performance right out of the box.
Whether you’re replacing a failed sensor or upgrading from an inconsistent aftermarket unit, our Upgraded CPS delivers the quality, reliability, and confidence your Powerstroke deserves.
Why Choose the Riffraff Diesel Upgraded CPS?

Common Symptoms of a Failing CPS
A failing Cam Position Sensor may contribute to:

- Sudden engine shutdown while driving
- Camshaft position sensor diagnostic trouble codes

CPS Upgrade
Solid upgrade for my 7.3, due to the hype online I was skeptical but I have to admit, it really makes a difference in how the truck runs and idles.
-
Cps
Surprised after install. Truck had to be plugged in when below 40°. Now truck starts when colder. Last few nights down to 27°. Cycle glow plug till light goes out. Fires right up. Smoother idle. Not sure if mileage increase. Time will tell
Very happy -
Solid CPS
Noticeable difference, runs smoother for sure. I couldn’t for the life of me, get the sensor in with the supplied o-ring.

Riffraff CPS
Quick and easy install, just like factory sensor. Fired right up and so smooth even the wife asked what I did! Great update, took 5 mins and under $100, cant ask for more.

Great upgrade
After seeing all of the posts and reviews I decided to give it a try. Used Forscan to take cylinder contribution readings before on the original CPS and after with the Riffraff sensor. I was pleasantly surprised and can confirm just what Riffraff claims in their graph. All of my contribution numbers are dramatically lower than before. Truck also idles much smoother than before. recommend this upgraded CPS to everyone now since I have seen the results with my own eyes. Kudos to Riffraff Diesel for taking the time to fix a decades old issue for the 7.3L market.

CPS
Seems to have smoother idle better response.

Big upgrade
Did a cylinder contribution test on my truck before and after installing this. Before it was showing cylinder 8 low, after it was not. This camshaft position sensor has my truck running better than ever, and idling extremely smooth. So glad I got it.
