Riffraff Diesel Cam Position Sensor CPS 1994-2003 7.3L

Shipping 3/10

Remember the original International "Black CPS" that originally came with the Powerstroke? Your engine idled smoother, had better cylinder contribution, and overall better drivability but unfortunately it was discontinued almost 20 years ago. The industry has been forced to make due with the updated "Grey CPS" and sacrifice those original attributes until now...

We have developed a brand new CPS that has all the original qualities, with the addition of 20 year newer chip and sensor technology! With this new technology and manufacturing knowledge we have been able to accurately increase the signal strength and clarity at more than double the air gap and rpm the original "Black CPS" was able to sense with no degradation of signal. This allows for more realized benefits and reliability than even the original "Black CPS was able to provide.

  • ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 production facility
  • Sensors are function tested on an actual 7.3L Cam gear for 100% accuracy
  • Assembly process is re-validated biannually on all sub-components

    CPS Sensor

Posted by Tyler Murphy on Jan 29th 2026

Great to see someone finally fixing this issue that everyone have dealt with for years. I feel like my truck runs like it did 15 years ago, fast start and great idle. Thank you Riff raff diesel for putting in the work.

    Not Much to Say

Pretty much same as everyone else, smooth idle and much quieter running overall. Could go on, but it is exactly like they shown on the graph. Great improvement overall.

    Satisfied!

I’ve put only about 100 miles on the truck since installing the new CPS. But the truck noticeably starts quicker and runs smoother. It also feels like the power is better, and doesn’t lug as much when RPM’s are low. Another thing I am noticing and will keep an eye on is the oil temps appear to be down about 5 degrees under the same conditions. I will try to update as I put more miles on the truck with the new CPS.

    Riffraff CPS

Posted by Billy on Jan 19th 2026

I was definitely a little skeptical if I’m being honest, but after installing the upgraded CPS my truck idles better and is quieter. I can’t notice a difference driving but having the smoother idle is a big plus. I will absolutely be buying another one.

    Riffraff Cam Sensor

Posted by Kevin on Jan 16th 2026

The Riffraff can sensor resulted in very violent engine stop/start incidents. I verified it was installed all the way in. I was surprised how violent these moments were. In the first test drive, was driving fine then, the engine would momentarily shut off for a half a second or so then come back on for another half second, and continue this cycle slamming the transmission. In 30 years of working on cars and truck it was the most violent thing I’ve felt from an engine even more than when I felt a crankshaft break. I installed a Cam sensor from Ford and no problems since then.

Way smoother idle and this truck has never passed a contribution test till now. Very happy.

    New CPS

Posted by Jason Crane on Jan 7th 2026

Came well packaged and a day early. Easy install, probably easiest to do on the whole truck other than the IPC sensor. Overall everything seems to run better, just like when it was new with my old black ford CPS. Worth the money.

    CPS

I couldn't get new part to goes in the block because of the O-ring. I tried to use even a bar to pry it but thought it was going to break. Only way to get it in was use my old o-ring. Defuse not feel any difference in running at all and still fluctuating on tack still. But will see how it lasts.

    Best CPS

Posted by Cameron on Jan 1st 2026

I was doubtful that after all these years that a better sensor could be made, but I was wrong. My truck starts faster, smoother idles, and I would swear better throttle response. Very happy with this sensor and I will be getting another just to keep in case.
