Riffraff Diesel Cam Position Sensor CPS 1994-2003 7.3L
The Cam Position Sensor (CPS) is one of the most critical sensors on your 7.3L Powerstroke. It provides the PCM with engine crank position and speed information, allowing the injectors to fire at precisely the right time. When the signal becomes weak or erratic, it can lead to poor drivability, intermittent stalling, hard starting, or even a no-start condition.
The original International “Black CPS” earned a loyal following among 7.3L owners for its excellent drivability and throttle response. When it was discontinued, many aftermarket replacements failed to deliver the same consistent performance.
Rather than simply reproducing an outdated design, we partnered with an OEM sensor manufacturer to develop an all-new CPS using modern Hall Effect technology, improved electronics, and tighter manufacturing controls. The result is a sensor engineered to provide exceptional signal stability, outstanding reliability, and the smooth performance 7.3L owners expect.
Every sensor is manufactured in an IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 certified facility, individually tested before packaging, and validated on an actual 7.3L camshaft gear to ensure consistent performance right out of the box.
Whether you’re replacing a failed sensor or upgrading from an inconsistent aftermarket unit, our Upgraded CPS delivers the quality, reliability, and confidence your Powerstroke deserves.
Why Choose the Riffraff Diesel Upgraded CPS?

Common Symptoms of a Failing CPS
A failing Cam Position Sensor may contribute to:
- Intermittent engine stalling
- Hard starting or no-start conditions
- Rough idle or inconsistent throttle response
- Sudden engine shutdown while driving
- Camshaft position sensor diagnostic trouble codes

Cam position sensor
Smoother idle, engine quieter, better acceleration. Haven't checked to see if mileage is better

Cam shaft sensor
This it the best thing you can do to make you truck run smooth. Installed it and the is quite and idles smoother. Check out my YouTube channel to see the difference Truckin Cowboy!

CAM POSITION SENSOR UPGRADED CPS 94-03 7.3L
I was skeptical at first but my truck definitely idles smoother. I can’t tell a difference while driving but the better idle is worth it to me.

Cam Position Sensor
Engine seems to have smoothed out, perhaps a bit better throttle response. Worth the money. My favorite part is that the windshield wiper no longer causes the engine to stall at idle unlike the parts store CPS.

Upgraded CPS sensor
My truck was having some cps issues (rpms up and down) and decided to swap it out with the new riffraff cps and sensor. Wasnt sure about it like everyone else but so far truck idles smoother, starts up fast, less blue smoke for whatever reason and a little more peppy. By far the easiest and best upgrade I’ve done. Always recommend these guys!

The new CPS is a 7.3 MUST HAVE!
02 F350 here. As soon as I started the truck I could hear the difference. It idles smoother. So smooth it reminds me of my old 94 7.3idi. Power feels the same. It just runs very smooth now. Sent my son a video (we’ve done a lot of work to the truck together over the last 6 years). He could hear the difference in the clip! Great work Riff Raff!

CPS Sensor
I was very skeptical of the claims that I had seen on Facebook and forums of how much this new cps would help. Well I can confirm, not only does the truck run and start better but I have NEVER seen a contribution test so clean, and with that low of percentages. I waited almost 2 months to post a review because I wanted to put as many miles on it as I could. This is the real deal!

RDP for the win
GREAT PRODUCT. So cool that RDP is reproducing and improving hard to find &/or obsolete parts like this! Ordered 2 of them as soon as they were back in stock (momentarily). I had just put a new dark CPS in my 01 f350 and that had made a HUGE difference from the one that was in it. Then I got the RDP CPS and put it in, not thinking there would be much improvement over another new sensor. Boy was I wrong. The claims are correct; faster start, smoother idle, quieter all-around, better throttle response. Clay you deserve an award for this one! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

CPS Sensor
Great to see someone finally fixing this issue that everyone have dealt with for years. I feel like my truck runs like it did 15 years ago, fast start and great idle. Thank you Riff raff diesel for putting in the work.
