Riffraff Diesel Cam Position Sensor CPS 1994-2003 7.3L
The Cam Position Sensor (CPS) is one of the most critical sensors on your 7.3L Powerstroke. It provides the PCM with engine crank position and speed information, allowing the injectors to fire at precisely the right time. When the signal becomes weak or erratic, it can lead to poor drivability, intermittent stalling, hard starting, or even a no-start condition.
The original International “Black CPS” earned a loyal following among 7.3L owners for its excellent drivability and throttle response. When it was discontinued, many aftermarket replacements failed to deliver the same consistent performance.
Rather than simply reproducing an outdated design, we partnered with an OEM sensor manufacturer to develop an all-new CPS using modern Hall Effect technology, improved electronics, and tighter manufacturing controls. The result is a sensor engineered to provide exceptional signal stability, outstanding reliability, and the smooth performance 7.3L owners expect.
Every sensor is manufactured in an IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 certified facility, individually tested before packaging, and validated on an actual 7.3L camshaft gear to ensure consistent performance right out of the box.
Whether you’re replacing a failed sensor or upgrading from an inconsistent aftermarket unit, our Upgraded CPS delivers the quality, reliability, and confidence your Powerstroke deserves.
Why Choose the Riffraff Diesel Upgraded CPS?

Common Symptoms of a Failing CPS
A failing Cam Position Sensor may contribute to:
- Intermittent engine stalling
- Hard starting or no-start conditions
- Rough idle or inconsistent throttle response
- Sudden engine shutdown while driving
- Camshaft position sensor diagnostic trouble codes

new CPS
My early 99 truck runs so smooth with this CPS. Worth the money.

Cam sensor
Night and day difference! Bought one for my 99 and one for my dad's 97. Both trucks start and idle better then they have in years. Can't wait tell they are back in stock so I can buy more to replace them in my other trucks. Thank you Riffraff for filling the void in the 7.3 market.

Couldn’t Recommend Enough
Had the grey cps in the truck, consistent cyl 8 contribution error. Decided to put this one in when it came out. No cylinders threw a code and the %s are almost 0 now. Truck seems to idle smoother as well.

cps upgrade
Lately motorcraft cam sensors, 6 of them, would not start my truck. The 26 year old sensor was still working, but I wanted a spare. This one by Riff Raff is the only one that works runs smoother at idle.

WAY better than stock!
We have several 7.3s and none of them "needed" a new CPS, but we wanted to see if we could tell a difference with this new one. I was very skeptical and would not have believed if I did not see it. The truck ran fine before the change, but after we put this upgraded CPS in the truck was WAY better than it ever has. I could not believe how much better it was. It was like the truck got new injectors. So much smoother! To make sure it wasn't just me thinking it was better we replaced another CPS on a different truck and again, the same results. WAY better idle and acceleration. If I did not do the work myself I would have bet that someone put new injectors in. Do yourself a favor and BUY this CPS even if you think your stock one is fine. This one is a TON better!

Brand New Truck
Saw this just before the weekend and Riffraff got it delivered overnight! Can not believe the difference in my 2001, starts faster, idles smooth and I swear the throttle response is better. Love it so much just ordered two more in case I am unable to get them later like the old black ones. Home Run Riffraff Diesel!

Wow Impressive
I am impressed. My cylinder 3 was reading 3.1-3.6 and now its .6 my cylinder 8 was 2.9-3.1 and now it is at 0. You can feel the difference. Riff Raff you guys are top notch.

Very very impressed.
Honestly never thought a sensor could help like this one did. The engine idles smoother, quieter, and the cold weather starting is dramatically better. The product is worth every penny. Another great product from RIff Raff!
