Riffraff Diesel Cam Position Sensor CPS 1994-2003 7.3L

Remember the original International "Black CPS" that originally came with the Powerstroke? Your engine idled smoother, had better cylinder contribution, and overall better drivability but unfortunately it was discontinued almost 20 years ago. The industry has been forced to make due with the updated "Grey CPS" and sacrifice those original attributes until now...

We have developed a brand new CPS that has all the original qualities, with the addition of 20 year newer chip and sensor technology! With this new technology and manufacturing knowledge we have been able to accurately increase the signal strength and clarity at more than double the air gap and rpm the original "Black CPS" was able to sense with no degradation of signal. This allows for more realized benefits and reliability than even the original "Black CPS was able to provide.

  • ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 production facility
  • Sensors are function tested on an actual 7.3L Cam gear for 100% accuracy
  • Assembly process is re-validated biannually on all sub-components

    Riffraff Upgraded CPS Sensor

Posted by Ryan on Mar 18th 2026

I was lucky enough to get one of the first CPS sensor back in late 2025. I was impressed from the beginning by how smooth it made the truck, but figured it was just luck. Flash forward 4 months later, installed one in my dads 2002, and have the exact same results, everything is better and smoother. Using Forscan all of the contribution numbers are less than half of what they were before. I cant recommend this CPS sensor enough, it is a real game changer, and I have now experienced it twice on two different trucks. Thanks Riffraff for your hard work on this.

Put the new cps in, cold start the truck, could tell within 2 seconds it idled smoother. About to go for the test drive but I'm already impressed.

    7.3 cps

After getting left on the side of the road in my old 02 SD I decided to replace all the possible problem areas in the truck I had used a parts store cps initially to get off the road I was shocked after installing the riffraff cps that the truck actually idled better I didn’t want to believe any of the hype but sure enough the truck runs a little nicer I ended up buying a second one just to keep in the glove box while pricey Its already better than the parts store knock off atleast the plug is in the correct orientation on this one so it doesn’t put strain on the harness

    Do it

Had truck for about 6 months, never messed with CPS/no issues with it. Replaced it with this 1. To get the experience of changing one out and 2. Because I was unsure of the age / make of the current one. What a difference! Did this the same day as plenum boots and inserts which gave me some power back but there was absolutely a noticeable improvement in the way my truck started and ran. As a side note, the one I pulled out was a no-name that looked very old

It works exactly as described. Ran a contribution test before and after. Considerably more equal across the board. Truck starts quicker and runs smoother at idle.

    New technology makes a difference

My 99.0001 F-250 always loped after I let off the accelerator. This higher-quality, newer technology sensor resolved that issue.

Impressive. Quieter and smoother running engine in my 246k mile 1997 7.3 PSD. Worth every penny.
