Riffraff Diesel Billet Engine Front Cover 7.3L 1994-2003 Powerstroke
The Engine Front Cover Ford Never Built
The engine front cover is a critical part of the 7.3L Power Stroke oiling and accessory systems. After years of repairing damaged factory covers, we set out to eliminate the weaknesses commonly found in the original cast-aluminum design.
The Riffraff Diesel Billet Engine Front Cover is precision CNC machined in the USA from a solid block of USA sourced 6061-T6 aluminum. It was engineered for greater strength, improved serviceability, and long-term durability—not simply copied from the factory casting.
Why Upgrade?
High-mileage factory front covers can suffer from:
- Stripped or damaged aluminum threads
- Worn or damaged sealing surfaces
- Cracked mounting locations
- LPOP Gear damage
Our billet cover provides a permanent, premium replacement for stock rebuilds, tow rigs, work trucks, and high-performance engine builds.
Engineered by Riffraff Diesel
Every area of the factory cover was evaluated for potential improvement. The result is a purpose-built upgrade featuring:
- Domestic 6061-T6 billet-aluminum construction
- Precision CNC-machined sealing surfaces and bores
- Stainless steel thread inserts at critical fastener locations
- Refined internal oil passages
- Accepts the screened reservoir gasket
- Direct compatibility with factory components
- Designed, engineered, and manufactured in-house in the USA
Built for Repeated Service
Damaged threads are one of the most common problems encountered with original aluminum front covers. Critical threaded locations in our cover use installed stainless steel inserts for increased durability, reliable clamping, and improved serviceability throughout the life of the engine.
Precision-Machined Oil Passages
Rather than relying on the dimensional variation of a casting, the internal passages are CNC machined for consistent size, alignment, and finish while maintaining compatibility with the factory 7.3L oiling system.
Watch It Being Made
See the manufacturing process in the Videos tab, where the cover is machined from raw billet into the completed component.
Fitment:
- 1994–1997 Ford 7.3L Power Stroke
- Early 1999 Ford 7.3L Power Stroke
- 1999.5–2003 Ford 7.3L Power Stroke
This is not simply a billet copy of the factory cover. It is a stronger, more durable and more serviceable front cover engineered specifically for the long-term future of your 7.3L Power Stroke.
*Note: Anodized Color on Aluminum can be discolored / damaged by chemical engine cleaners. Use only soap and water to clean.

Billet Front Cover
I was reluctant to spend the money, but I can say after receiving it, installing and running that it is worth all of it and more. The fit, and finish of this part is bar none the highest quality on the market. It is amazing strong, and every part lined up like it should. I cant recommend Riffraff Diesel and Kill Devil Diesel enough, both are top notch companies and they have my 7.3L running like never before.

RIFFRAFF DIESEL BILLET ENGINE FRONT COVER 7.3L 1994-2003
I originally bought the OEM cover but immediately returned it because the casting quality was very poor. Given the amount of labor required to change out the front cover I did not want to chance it with a questionable part. This Billet Front Cover looks good and fits well. I did have issues with the bolts that connect the front oil cooler housing. The original bolts were too long - the bolts holes were not tapped deep enough. It was really close - it looked good but with the first test drive there was oil weeping out along the gasket. I shortened each bolt about 4mm and tightened them down and it's now leak free. Another area to be aware of is just to the left (passenger side) of where the HPOP access cover bolts on. There is a measurable difference between the OEM and this billeted version in this area. As a result, that bolt had to be shortened 13mm. I had ordered the "Front Cover Bolt Kit" from RiffRaff so this was an especially unwelcomed surprise when I already had RTV applied. Lastly, since installing this front cover my HPOP reservoir drains down if the truck sits more than 12 hours. I recognize there could be other causes for this, I did replace the LPOP at the same time, but it is something to consider in the event any other customers mention a similar issue.

Show Piece Part
This is a very impressive part, and honestly as a career machinist of almost 20 years I cant believe the great price they are able to sell it for. Keep doing what you guys are known for! Thank you for the great work.
