Ive put 4 of these in, and one removed and re installed into a new rig. one OBS. I like how my wife's OBS scoots much faster on even a low setting (daily 65 or 40, I forget) and I run my 03 at daily 40. If you want it having the option of further hp gains is nice, say for merging or something. But, I don't really need that much most of the time. I also like that after further engine mods I can fairly easily get tunes to keep the truck happy.

Replaced an old Banks six-gun chip with the new hydra. Huge difference for the better.

This chip does just what everyone says it will! Truck drives like a different truck now. Haven’t towed with it yet or checked mileage but man was it worth the money shoulda done it sooner. RiffaRaff had the best price and sent along a 90 degree USB chord which is in the truck waiting for when I want to change tunes.

I have only had this one, and a 6 position from a competitor. The fact you can reprogram in the truck, and ALL of the positions for tunes you have is a wonderful thing. I create a little sheet in Excel of what tune is in what position so I can keep track. I laminate them at work, and keep it in the visor. Love it!!

Super impressed how this tuner with the hydra tunes performed! Know this pig can get out of its own way and put some power to the ground. Very easy to program and install.

I recently installed this in an RV that was repowered with an OBS 7.3. It had a different programmer which I was never impressed with. The Hydra made a huge difference in performance and shifting characteristics. I knew it would be better but I'm impressed with how much better it is with just the 60HP towing tune in it.

Once I had the necessary supporting mods I wanted to get a chip for the 7.3 to wake that thing up and boy did it. I have an E99 7.3 and this thing made it literally a different vehicle to drive. The thing picks-up and takes off so much smoother now and it feels like twice the power, of course it's not but it feels so much better. I drive it around in the 60hp daily tune and I would never go back that's for sure. the PHP website was super informative and helpful. I will say that when it comes to cleaning the connector on the computer, you really need to take the time and do that to the T or you will have issues. When I first did it I was really scared of taking to much material off so when I put the tuner on, it was not connecting but was still allowing me to cycle through the tunes. So I was sitting there thinking, either this chip is garbage of I'm an idiot. I reached down and gave it a gentle push in and the truck died. Fired it back up and then I really noticed the power difference so I knew I had a bad connection. Pulled it apart and re-cleaned the contacts really really well and all has been perfect since. I know there is a lot of debate out there about this tuner and that tuner but I am not trying to turn a 20 year old truck into a race car I just wanted reliability and drivability and the PHP definitely gave me that 100%. Of course I got A+ service from RiffRaff as always while ordering. I was trying to figure out how to get what I needed and Clay explained it all to me before I bought anything. Super happy with my purchase!

Bought my 7.3 and it had an Edge. What a piece of junk compared to the Hydra. The truck runs smoother, feels like it has more power in lower settings, and shifts great. I do have surge but bought the riff raff 4/4 wheel to fix that.
