The Hydra Chip includes 17 total memory slots for tuning presets (15 tuning presets, NO START, and MODULE BYPASS) to get the most performance and efficiency out of your truck no matter where or how you are driving! On the old, 6-position knob-style chip, you could never tell what preset you were running unless you counted the knob's clicks. On the new Hydra Chip, you can always see what tuning program you are running with its convenient green LED switchbox. Using the up and down buttons on the switchbox, you can change your tuning preset on the fly. Don't forget we also offer optional billet aluminum flush mounts for a clean OE install into your dash.

When you purchase the blank Hydra Chip, you will have the ability to load 15 specific tunes for your truck make/year. The Windows/Mac software program is a FREE Download. This Download will allow access to the complete inventory of PHP Standard Stock Injector 7.3L Tunes all at no additional charge. Tunes for modifications like injectors or dual pumps aren't included. The USB connection on the Hydra Chip itself will allow you to load tuning presets to your chip without having to take it to a dealer or send it back to us! Just plug it into your Windows/Mac based computer and download your selections, even while installed on the PCM.

This feature is especially helpful if you order a custom tune from a custom tuning company--they can email you the file (which is specific to your serial number) and you can install it yourself from the comfort of your home! Your Hydra comes with the USB extension cable adapter, you can even plug your laptop into the chip from your cab while it is still installed in your truck!

    Hydra PHP for 1997 F350

    This chip is amazing yo say the least. I had my doubts but after the test drive I'm a believer. Best modification so far to my relatively stock F350 with 250k on the clock.

    Had a bit of trouble with the install (make sure to really clean the J3 terminal!) But the guys at Hydra were able to advise me via email. Excited to upgrade the injectors on my truck eventually and get some custom tunes done!

    Plug and play install the only hard part was making sure you get the right tunes loaded onto the chip but definitely worth the money.

    PHP Hydra Chip (w/ Red LED)

    Purchased to compliment my stage 2 trans, EBV Delete, K&N C.A.I., Adrenaline HPOP, and Exhaust. My PCM code (VDH4) has plenty of available free tunes to choose from. Installation was a breeze. I have the PHP switch mounted on a 3 in 1 Boost/EGT/Trans Temp Gauge from GlowShift.

    Installation: follow instructions, see YouTube. Install the cable to the PCM board first, then route to where you want, not the other way around (trust me). I applied some ESD tape to help keep it in place on the PCM, even though I think its pretty well secured.

    Tuning: Play with all the available tunes. Read the notes / instructions. Some tunes don't play well with my built trans (I tuned the trans valve body, plates, added clutches, added the Sonax and TransGo kits BEFORE the PHP) There is an available program for advanced users to go deep down the rabbit hole of tuning.... be careful... you're messing with heavy nerd stuff. Sticking with the stock tunes will be more than enough for most.

    Excellent Tuning option

    Installed easily using the online instructions. Immediate boost in power and other options. I'm convinced that the NS (No Start) mode in this prevented my truck from being stolen - thieves smashed my window and destroyed the ignition, but weren't able to get it started because I had it in NS and had removed the selector. The Hydra more than paid for itself in the first month!

    I am a really big fan of this tuner. Fairly easy to install. Comes with everything needed to install. Only problem that I have is that with the 100+ hp tunes it has problems shiting 2-3. Not sure if its the tuner or my truck but overall very impressed.

    2000 Ford Excursion 7.3L
    Was excited to see how well this chip would do. I downloaded all the stock tunes. That was pretty straight forward with the online instructions. After installing the chip, I attempted to move through the tunes. I noticed that the control box was a bit slow to respond. Multiple clicks required to move between tunes. That was with pauses in between pushes. After selecting a mild tune, I attempted to go for a test drive. After turning truck around, I notice the display was gone. No digits were visible. I turned the truck off and back on. No change. I unplugged the ribbon cable, no change. I took truck for a test drive. I am in a tune, but don't know which one. A great chip, but the display/selector hardware quality should match the chip quality. After speaking with Tech Support, I am going to flip the ribbon cable tomorrow, but am still disappointed that the ribbon cable lasted less than 5 minutes of use. If the ribbon/display is that sensitive, then how is it to last in a truck with 3/4 ton suspension? Update to follow...
