Fixed my Oil Leak
I have tried everything to get rid of a seasonal leak on my 7.3L. I rebuilt turbo and pedestal, all the oil rail end plug o rings, and all the other common leaks on this engine. Finally was able to see it was coming from the front seal on the oil cooler. Now I have no leaks! Good OEM quality, do not go with aftermarket brands. The original seals lasted 280K, I will drive another 280K worry free!
As for the job itself, I recommend taking off the entire assembly. I spent the majority of my time cleaning the oil cooler. Old o rings crumbled when I tried to take them off. When reassembling, I used my body weight pressure to "press" fit the end caps back on. Blunt force such as a rubber mallet did not work. -
