Definitely OEM, -and- with a relieve in it. That was an unexpected surprise. The thermostat I took out was pretty standard. This looked to be higher quality and included the relief. So far, the engine is running cool. I'm glad I replaced this while the engine was out.

This t-stat is what you want if converting to the IH cast iron water pump with built in filter. Installed this “short” spring body t-stat with Ford 195 * opening temp. The newer long body will not fit this pump and I did not want to use the 205* t-stat IH uses that came with the conversion.

Used this to replace the DieselSite 203 degree thermostat that came with the DieselSite Water Pump Filter kit due to oil temp reaching 230 degree when towing. with my 97 Powerstroke. The Motorcraft thermostat has the oring formed to it and a vent hole unlike the DieselSite 203 thermostat which uses a seperate oring . I didnt notice a difference in warmup time between the two but the Motorcraft now keeps my oil temp in a manageable range when towing .
