Finally fixed my cold start issue

Posted by Alex on Dec 17th 2014

After getting multiple CELs for glow plugs on my 2001 Excursion, I finally decided to do the glow plugs. However unfortunately this did not fix my issue and the truck was still really difficult to get started in the cold. It then started throwing up codes for the glow plugs and code P0670 "Glow Plug Control Module".

I figured I would try a new GPCM next since mine already had 220,000 miles on it, RiffRaff had the best price on this part (local ford dealer had it listed for $190) I purchased it got it about a week later on the east coast, fit my 2001 Excursion without any problems, really easy to install. Truck fired up right away on a 30 degree night after not being driven for about a week.

This Module has been on my truck now for a couple weeks and no more CEL! Truck starts great now.

    Very happy!

    Very happy

The GPCM arrived much nquicker than I expected. I put it on that afternoon, took about an hour and everything is now fine. I cleared the codes and have put many miles on since with no problems. I will continue to use Riffraff if I need anything in the future, service and price was great. I am very satisfied.

Factory replacement for your failed/faulty GPCM.

Posted by Unknown on Jun 6th 2014

I was notified of my failed GPCM on my CA truck when I started getting CEL for my individual glow plugs. Ultimately, I got the code for a failed glow plug controller.

Enter the new GPCM from Riffraff. It's pretty straight forward. The old one unplugs (2 harness connections) and unblots (2 nuts). Plug in the new one and bolt it down and away you go. Direct OEM replacement.

    Cleared all my issues.
