    Garrett EBV Delete Pedestal

Posted by Pete 1997 7.3L CA on Apr 28th 2019

On the California 1997 7.3L, it is necessary remove the turbo to get the fuel pump out. The high pressure fuel lines have a Bosch fuel pulse dampener on an extended banjo bolt & housing that mandate the turbo be removed. I decided to replace my original EBV pedestal, which appeared to be leaking oil, with this one when I put in a new fuel pump. One week later, the brand new dealership-bought fuel pump died. I never thought I'd have to pull the turbo again, let alone one week later...but I did, and with this new, less obstructed pedestal, it went pretty fast. Highly recommended. By the way, to get the back bolts out, it's not that hard. Use a 10mm 1/4 drive socket, u-joint, and a 6 inch extension, 1/4 drive to 3/8 drive adapter, and a long handle flex head ratchet. Guide the socket to the back driver side bolt with your left index finger, coming in from the passenger side of the turbo, while the socket, u-joint, and extender come in from the driver's side with your right hand. It turns out to be not all that difficult on the EBV pedestal, and just about easy on the Delete pedestal.

Best thing I've done for my truck

So much easier to work on with all the stuff that likes to leak out of the way. Not worth the extra warm up, even in Colorado.

If you are reading this then you know what a pain in the ass the OEM mount is. This one installs easy and you can even get to all the bolts without using 4 mirrors a wobble and 1/4 inch stubby ratchet.

Makes much more room. My EBPV was leaking oil badly so I deleted it. I did the high flow outlet too and wow what a difference in EGT's. At least 100-200 lower while cruising. I dont know if mine was working correctly or not but wow what a difference.

If you're already planning on taking off the turbo, this will make your life easier. No more EBPV to get in the way, one less place to leak oil, and one less set of parts you have to maintain!
Couple it with the ebvp delete connector, and your set.
