Dipstick Adapter Repair Kit 7.3L 94-03 73DIPSTICK.COM

The leak at the dipstick flange is a well known issue with the 7.3 Powerstroke motor. The leak develops because the factory O-ring mounted inside the adapter swells over time due to exposure to oil. As the seal swells it actually deforms the inner piece of the adapter causing the outer nut to loosen. Some people will try tightening the nut to stop the leak and that can work temporarily, but it only deforms the inner piece more.

The factory repair for this leak is to remove the pan and replace the whole unit from the inside of the pan. This is a time consuming and expensive repair.

There are a few aftermarket options out there designed to repair this from the outside of the pan.

There is a weld in bung option, Requiring welding to dissimilar materials with pipe fitter skills.

There is a bolt on unit that requires dropping the internal part inside the pan and leaving it there loose.
Our kit reuses the internal part and moves the seal to the outside of the pan. Nothing left abandoned inside the pan and no welding.

    Oil Pan Dipstick Seal

Posted by Gary on Mar 14th 2024

I’ve tried numerous times replacing the O-Rings and Flange Nut and it never completely seals the Oil Pan. I was almost ready to pull the Oil Pan and replace, when I heard about this repair method. This Oil Pan Dipstick Sealing method works. I’ve put almost 2,000 miles on it in the past week and it hasn’t leaked a drop.

    Dipstick adapter repair kit 7.3

Nice Product , follow the directions and you won’t have any issues. I gave it 4 Stars because the Nut supplied with the kit would not thread onto my Dipstick Holder , I used my Original nut but had to invert it ( flanged side out ) and tightened with a Large pair of Channel Locks, let it sit for 20 hours and lit it off. 1200 miles on it so far and all is good.

    Bad instructions

Posted by Unknown on Sep 13th 2023

I watched the “inventor’s” video in which he uses a coat hanger to hold the adapter. That didn’t work and down the oil pan went my piece. Written instructions were worse and recommended objects like a rope which is just laughable. Since this whole kit working hinges on a way to hold the piece up to the pan you’d think there would be some emphasis on fool proof ways to do that.

What an awesome kit only thing better is a weld on adapter. Worth the money to not have the adapter inside the oil pan.
