Motorcraft Coolant Temp Sensor 94-97 7.3L Powerstroke

Ford used 2 different styles of temperature sensors on the 7.3L engines that look the same but function differently. If you touch your sensor wire to the chassis and your temp gauge reads full scale, you will need the F1SZ10884A sensor. If it does nothing, you will probably need the DOZZ10884A sensor.

There is also one difference in appearance that may be hard to distinguish on the sensor once is has been installed on the engine for years. There is a colored ring in the sensor around the single electrical pin. One is red and the other sensor is green. If you have a green colored ring, you need the F1SZ10884A, red is the DOZZ10884A sensor.

    Coolant temp sensor 94-95

Not the the correct sensor for my 1995 fsuperduty, neither is the red one. Sensor required should have a resistance of 74 ohms cold and 9.7 ohms hot. This sensor reads 400 ohms cold (didn’t put in freezer) and bottoms at 20 ohms at 212° F.

    Correct sensor for my 1997

Posted by Dean M on Jan 16th 2021

Thanks to the description of this item, I was able to fix my gauge issue with my truck. Long story short, took it to a shop, the shop installed the red band one (wrong for my truck) and my gauge failed to function any more. Reason I had it replaced to begin with was my factory gauge wasn' t reading as accurately as I wanted it to read. Any rate, RiffRaff saved me a lot of troubleshooting because my truck actually took the green one (this sensor) and now my gauge is working again...well, back to where it was before but I can't fault the sensor for that. Thanks again Clay for another good part.

I was happy to find the exact part that my 95 power stroke required. Prior to visiting riffraffdiesel.com I had been to 4 different parts stores and each time I was given the wrong part. THANKS RIFFRAFFDIESEL.
