Every Recall Issued For the 1994-2003 Ford Equipped with the 7.3L Powerstroke
Feb 6th 2026
There’s dozens of recalls associated with our trucks. Some of these we’re all aware of, some are news to us, and some (the mass majority) truck owners were never even told about. It’s an interesting list and one you won’t find anywhere else on the internet, specifically for the 7.3 equipped vehicles.
For those with documents, we’ll include links. However some recalls listed on the NHTSA’s site do not include any documents (or have dead links). As far as we can tell from looking into them, those without a link were likely repaired prior to the vehicle being sold or were quietly repaired at dealership service departments (and removed from the list once all were repaired). If you worked for a Ford dealer at the time (like some of our employees did), you’ll remember a few of these ones without documents.
This list applies to 7.3 equipped vehicles from 1994-2003, although each does not apply to every year. If you’re curious about any one in particular, we’ve included the applicable control number (either from the NHTSA or Ford) so you can research it further.
Note: Many recalls exist that came from Ford's parts suppliers. We did not include those here as none appeared applicable to current vehicle owners.
01B77 - Ford/Firestone Wilderness At Tires
Ford recall 01B77 was a "Customer Satisfaction Program" initiated around 2001-2002 to replace Firestone Wilderness AT tires (15, 16, and 17-inch) on various Ford trucks and SUVs due to tread separation risks. Not technically a recall but a preventative campaign.

96V064000 - Ford/Interior Systems: Tracks And Anchors: Front
NHTSA recall 96V064000 involves 1994-1995 Ford F-150, F-250, and F-350 trucks where the driver's side power lumbar support wiring can short circuit against seat cushion support wires, causing potential fire hazards.
Documents Unavailable
97S90 - Ford/Tires Cut
Affected trucks may have had original equipment tires damaged (bead cut) during mounting, which can cause sudden air loss and possible loss of vehicle control, Ford/Firestone’s remedy was tire replacement.

94V169001 - Emergency Parking Brake: Mechanical
The parking brake self-adjust pawl can misalign and skip teeth, making the parking brake not hold the vehicle (rollaway risk), so Ford’s fix was to install a wedge to keep the pawl engaged.
Documents Unavailable
94V101000 - Ignition: Cruise Control Module
In cruise control on heavily loaded trucks, the throttle may not reduce immediately when engine load drops (e.g., cresting a hill), causing an unexpected speed increase, so dealers replaced the electronic engine control module (ECM).

96B82/96B83 - Ford/Front Accessory Drive Belt
A Ford owner-notification campaign for certain 1992–1994 E/F-Series where the FEAD serpentine belt can stretch/track off and detach from the pulleys—potentially causing loss of power steering and brake assist (and, on some automatics, a fire risk)—fixed by installing an updated tensioner, belt, belt guide, and improved idler pulley.
Documents Unavailable
93V184000 - Interior Systems: Passive Restraint: Air Bag
Certain light-duty trucks (<8,500 lb GVWR) were built with a nonfunctional air-bag diagnostic module, so the air-bag system and warning light may not operate (reduced crash protection), and the fix is to inspect and install the correct diagnostic module if needed.
Documents Unavailable
94V018000 - Structure: Bumper Assembly
The front bumper retaining U-clip nuts can fracture, letting the bumper loosen and potentially detach while driving (crash risk), so dealers inspect and replace the U-clip nuts and associated bolts.
Documents Unavailable
07E066000 - 90 Degree 7-Way Right Angle Adaptors/Tow Assembly
Certain aftermarket Cequent 90° 7-way right-angle trailer wiring adaptors were miswired, which can make trailer lights not operate properly (crash risk), and the affected tow packages were kept at the distributor level (distributor recall, not sold to consumers, similar to many we did not include).
Documents Unavailable.
99V311000 – Fuel Leakage (at fill tube)
Super Duty pickups with 8-ft beds may have failed FMVSS 301 fuel-system integrity because the fuel tank vapor recovery valve can separate in a 30-mph frontal impact and leak excessive fuel in a rollover, so dealers installed a stop-plate on the frame to prevent the valve from contacting a crossmember during crash sequences.
Documents Unavailable.
05S28 - Speed Control Deactivation Switch/Supplement
The speed control deactivation switch can leak brake fluid and overheat, potentially causing an under-hood fire even when parked, so Ford’s fix is to install a fused jumper harness (and replace the switch if leaking).

02S34 - Ford/Parking Brake Cable Button
On certain pickup trucks with manual transmissions, the front parking-brake cable input button can fail, so the parking brake may not hold the vehicle (rollaway/crash risk), and dealers replace the front parking-brake cable and controller and verify operation.

07S57 - Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP/CPS)
Ford issued voluntary safety recall 07S57 for about 1.18 million 1997–2003 F-Super Duty, E-Series, and Excursion vehicles with 7.3L diesels due to potentially faulty camshaft position (CMP) sensors that could fail and cause hesitation or unexpected stalling.

01S24 - Ford/Windshield Wiper Motor Cover
A switch in the wiper motor gear-case cover can overheat and fail (and potentially melt/ignite the plastic cover), leading to loss of intermittent/park/complete wiper function, so dealers inspect the wiper motor and replace the gear-case cover if it’s in the suspect build range.
Documents Unavailable.
01S21 - Ford/TRW Seat Belt Buckles
TRW-supplied front outboard seat belt buckles may not fully latch, reducing occupant protection in a crash, so dealers inspect the buckles and replace any that fail inspection.
Documents Unavailable.
01S10 - Ford/Air Bag Module
Ford Recall 01S10 (NHTSA 01V082000) involves 2001 Ford vehicles where the driver-side airbag inflator may have inadequate output, causing potential failure to deploy in a crash. The recall involves replacing the driver-side airbag module.
Documents Unavailable.
11C18: Steering Column Multifunction Switch/FMVSS 108
A suspect multifunction (turn-signal) switch can deform and go inoperative, causing loss of turn signals, brake lights, tail lights, and/or hazard lights (crash risk), so Ford’s fix is to inspect the switch date code and replace affected switches.
