As stated on another review, I’d been researching improvements for quite some time….. After waiting for so long to pull the trigger on some billet plenums from RiffRaff Diesel, the 94-97 plenums were out of stock. My factory sheet metal plenums had been leaking oil for a very long time and I had read about the Viton O-ring seal vs the gray silicone. The RH intake had been leaking for as long as I can remember, so the silicone wasn’t all that good to start with. I had sent them a very long 1st contact about my old high mileage truck checking on availability and Clay stated to order them for an Early 99 and that they were the same as my 97. He was absolutely correct, they were identical. His plenums fit like a glove, they are a work of art. I chose red to match the boost tubes in the Banks IC kit for a change from black everything under the hood. Applied some tacky grease, then wiped up excess and the O-rings did fine. The stainless hardware is very nice as well. Just make sure your 5 mm Allen socket is in good condition, the 6 mm Allen worked good too. The Ford WSM states 18 ft lbs, hardware will hold it, but backed them off to 17 ft lbs without any problems. It was very easy to clean old silicone off heads and with the o-rings, it was a clean job !
Just make sure when you torque them down, just go slow, you’re not torquing head bolts. Work from the center and work your way out. The bolts for shallow holes use 5 mm, the longer bolts 6 mm.
Everything ordered had to be done at the same time.starting with these plenums. The passenger side front fuel fitting needs a 45 degree added with some soft set pipe sealant and you’re good to go .
They really look nice !
I’ll be ready for some more RiffRaff bling when I get my CC bill paid down from my long awaited improvements…….. shipping very fast, nothing damaged.
Thanks Clay for all your help !
Just phenomenal will be ordering another set soon
Very hard to describe just how great these are. The machining, fit, finish and seal is better than anything out there. They even include stainless steel hardware. Direct fit for my OBS and even worked great with my KC Turbo upgrade.
Quality product! Excellent machining and a perfect fit! Replaces those flimsy plenums with a 100٪ Made in America quality piece of craftsmanship!
Awesome product would recommend this to anyone looking for intake plentums
Fit like a glove. Extremely great quality, hardware is good. Oring had hard time staying in groove at first. Light layer of grease around oring and stayed in the groove no problem. They look nice!
I bought these for my friend who has an early 1999 Extend cab 4x4. We haven't put them on yet, but I have to say, they are absolutely beautiful and I am certain the fit is going to be better than the factory pieces. It really is too bad they are so low and will be mostly covered up with all the inter cooler tubes, intake piping, and wiring harness once installed, because they are a work of art.
I will say these are such a work of engineering and the pictures don't really do them justice. Installed a set on my 1996 7.3 to replace the stockers and what a difference. Stainless hardware is a real nice addition as well. No more leaks, I am happy.
