PureFlow AirDog II Air/Fuel Separation System DF-165-5G Powerstroke 7.3L

The AirDog® II Demand Flow Fuel Preporator®

This is the AirDog II-5G DF-165-5G fuel system for the 1999-2003 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke. This replaces the factory frame rail fuel pump. This diesel lift pump mounts to the frame rail using the supplied sandwich plate mounting system. The suction side hooks up to the factory suction line on the frame rail. The pressure side connects to the factory feed line to the injection pump. The AirDog Air/Vapor return is sent back to the tank through a filler neck return tee. This is a 165GPH (Gallon Per Hour) lift pump system for moderately modified trucks. Check out our installation manual for a list of parts that are included with this kit.

Alternative for the Powerstroke fuel pump.

NOTE: If you are using the AirDogII in anything but stock 1999-2003 7.3L vehicles you may need additional lines, fittings or adapters.

Upgraded Fuel Lines Require Additional Fittings

Posted by Scott Richardson on Mar 6th 2024

Very quiet pump! Works really well in conjunction with a 4 way fuel system/ Fuel Bowl Removal. Recommend getting the extra 3/4 16 UNF “ORB” To 8 AN Fittings x2 for the Air Dog Pump required to install the upgraded fuel line kit. You will also want two additional 8AN Hose Ends The two additional hose ends that will be used for the suction to the tank. For the return line (pump to tank fill, just used the Air Dog supplied fitting and hose). (Capped off the 8AN Fitting at the Riff Raff Fuel Pickup. With the Riff Raff High Volume Fuel Pick Up, Riff Raff 4 Way Fuel Lines, the Air Dog II 5 G, the 4 Banjo Bolts from Riff Raff, and the upgraded steel braided line kit, the crummy fuel bowl and that mess in the fuel tank is gone, I am finally very happy with the entire fuel system!!! The truck is quieter for sure! Can’t even tell when the Air Dog Kicks On when I am listening for it. Easy Install if you had all the fittings ready to go. If not you will be all over town looking for the fittings or paying 20$ to have 1 shipped to you.

    Very Quiet Air Dog

Posted by Scott NC on Feb 23rd 2024

This seems to be a good functional part, just installed it Feb2024 For this 2001, 7.3, Crew Cab, short bed, 4x4 project.
With the upgraded fuel line kit that is recommend, YOU Will Need another fitting on the Air Dog Engine Port that is not supplied.( ORB to -8 ). This will connect the upgraded braided fuel line to the air dog itself.
Mounted this one on outside of frame due to the grease that flies around under the truck from the rear drive shaft grease. Plus with the supplied fittings from Air Dog, I was not able to install on inside of frame because the air dog was so close to the fuel tank. Hope that helps ya

Just finished the install on my '02 F350, super easy install, great instructions! I was worried about the length of fuel line that was supplied but when I was building the last hose it was an inch to long! these guys have it down to a science. As always great service from Riffraff also!

    Pump Works

Posted by Tyler Getz on Mar 28th 2018

I've about 600 miles on the system, heavy towing, no issues so far, my problem with the system mainly comes from the customer service. When I received the system it was packaged with a broken plug on the pump. The snap to hold the male end in place was broke off, it was packaged and shipped like that. I also contacted AirDog about the amount of hose that came with the kit, one person emailed me 14ft, another person on the phone told me 20ft. I received 14ft, and they told me I would have enough even after explaining to them I have a cab and chassis truck, with a tank behind the axle.
