    Easy install

Posted by Matt on Dec 29th 2023

Glad I went with this turbo. My 97 has a Dieselsite efuel system, T500 hpop, 3 inch downpipe, 6637 air intake from Riff Raff and now, Riff Raff Bellowed up pipes and this turbo on an early 99 ebpv delete pedistal. It shipped fast and the e99 pedistal+frankenturbo made installation very easy. From start to finish, including replacing the up pipes which were leaking badly whole job took about ten hours. Truck now has twice as much boost And is much more responsive. Very happy once again!

    All round awesome!

If you're looking for a great upgrade to your stock daily driver or towing rig, This turbo is simply the best bang for for your buck. really wakes up the beast at lower rpms. it starts building boost almost instantly and continues steadily throughout the entire power band. I get 4 psi @1k and she climbs all the way to 20psi w/ WOT on the highway. EGTs behave better as well. It runs about as hot as the stock unit on the highway but builds heat slower and cools much faster after you let off the throttle. This is what should have been on the truck from the factory. Best part is, if you ever need to pull the turbo out again, this thing will come out in about ten min. Also, it does not come with the turbine outlet so make sure you order one if you plan on deleting your EBPV. Awesome retrofit Clay! keep up the good work.
(note, I did opt for the billet wheel. for the extra $ it costs, its worth every penny. My rig is completely stock except for a 4in diamond eye turbo back setup so not sure what the boost or EGTs will be on a stock exhaust system)

    Great, affordable upgrade

Posted by Dean on Apr 18th 2019

I noticed my factory turbo had a few issues with oil weeping and exhaust leaking so I figured it was time for an upgrade. This was definitely worth it, it spools up quicker. I would suggest getting the non-EBPV pipe for this as it doesn't come with it and the electrical plug fooler. Not sure what factory boost was, I am getting 20psi boost though at the intake but I'm revving 3k RPM to get it.
I also installed a PTP turbo blanket as well to improve thermal efficiency and RiffRaff ceramic coated up=pipes.

    Solid investment

Purchased a couple weeks ago. Took an hour to install. Much better than stock. The billet wheel sounds great and the smaller housing gives great low end power. No complaints yet.

    Tp38

Nice turbo, got it with the billet wheel, I haven’t had much time running it, but it works well with my new swamps 175/146 injectors. Turbo did not come with an exhaust outlet, so if you are getting rid of the ebpv on your truck, make sure you get the high flow outlet as well.

Ease of Maintenance and Improve Drive ability

Posted by Corey on Aug 30th 2018

After my stock turbo cooked itself I called Clay to discuss options. He was incredibly helpful and called me back way after their shop had closed just to make sure I was taken care of due to my tight time line needing the truck back up. New pedestal/turbo setup was a breeze to install vs. The OBS mounts and the 1.0 housing with billet compressor wheel makes the truck drive the way it should have from the factory. All in all Riffraff rocks!

    Different driving experience

Posted by Unknown on Mar 3rd 2018

For me this is what should of came on the truck from the factory. Acceleration from a stop is now comparable to gas engines of the time. Truck boost at lower rpm, has a better power band now. Truck now feels more efficient all the way around, even seen a 2 mpg increase. Highly recommend for a stock replacement or up to a stage one build. Haven't had a problem with egts yet either. Thanks riff raff/Clay for another superior product

    Moved me a gear up

Posted by Fish on Dec 11th 2017

I have a 97 with a manual trans, and this turbo enabled me to be in a higher gear in almost every situation I have encountered. I'm typically towind about 10k lbs, and hills rarely require downshifting now. I opted for the billet wheel as well, and I am very happy with the results. In addition to the performance advantage, the updated design made installation substantially easier.
